How to score A grade in OET Speaking Test?

Are you ready for the speaking test?

Most of the OET candidates feel more confident of getting through other OET sub-tests like Reading, Writing and Listening but when it comes to OET speaking sub-test, they feel a bit more frightened. They nurture this unknown fear which further crushes down their confidence and they certainly do not perform well in their OET speaking test.

Not anymore! Yes, when you have to take this test then why step back, why let anything demoralize you.

It is time to break the shackles or the barriers of hesitation or inhibition of less confidence and try on to present yourself in the best way so that you can easily score well in this test.

You need to talk

The first very important thing which you will have to focus on is this: you will have to talk. Yes, if you do not talk then you will not be able to score high in this sub-test. Try to talk as much as you can. Explain to your interviewer (the interlocutor, who will be playing the role of the patient or the client for you) in as simple words as you can. You will not have to stop on anything. The moment you stop; you will not be in a state to impress your interviewer. And remember, you will get the chance only once and if you do not make use of that opportunity then you will not be able to score higher in this test.

Talk as fluently as you can

Let your interviewer knows that you are good speaking. Do not falter or hesitate. Try to speak as calmly as you can. And certainly, you do not have to speak fast. Yes, you need to be very good at managing your rhythm. You will not have to scream at the top of your voice nor do you have to speak so slow or soft that even your listener doesn’t get the chance to listen to you properly.

Relax and yes, enjoy speaking with your interviewer

Do not think that you are speaking in front of an interviewer. Just feel like you're speaking to a patient or the client. This way you will not feel burdened or and you will be able to speak well.

And of course you will have to speak more than your interlocutor. Do not just stop or let your interviewer ask you, “what happen!’ You will have to continue speaking or explaining things as needed for about considerable amount of time throughout the test.

And it also good that you shall stop or concentrate on things when the interviewer says you to.

And yes, you have this option to ask for clarifications if you do not understand anything. If there are any doubts, then you shall let your interviewer know of it beforehand and if once the role-play begins then you will not be able to get your doubts cleared. It will be bad impression and you will not get your desired score.
