Q1. What is the OET?
Ans. The Occupational English Test is designed to test the English proficiency of healthcare professionals who aspire to work or practice in English-speaking countries.
Q2. Who can write the OET?
Ans. The OET is designed for 12 professions belonging to the healthcare field. Candidates belonging to these professions can take the OET – Medicine, Nursing, Dietetics, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Physiotherapy, Radiography, Podiatry, Optometry, Occupational therapy, Veterinary and Speech Pathology.,
Q3. What is the OET fee?
Ans. The OET is conducted in more than 40 countries, and the fees depend on the countries you want to take your test in. You can contact your nearest test centre to find out about the fee details.
Q4. When can I write the OET?
Ans. OET is conducted 14 times a year, hence making it easier for the candidate to write the test according to their convenience. Contact your nearest test centre to get the test dates in accordance to your choice.
Q5. How to book an OET test?
Ans. You can visit the nearest OET test centre in your city and apply for the test. Online booking is also a viable option.
Q6. Which countries recognize OET?

Q7. When do I receive my results?
Ans. Your OET result will be published online in 17 days after taking the test. You will also receive your test results in mail 10 days after the results are published online.
Q8. How many subtests are there in OET?
Ans. The OET consists of four sub-tests based on the important English skills required for a candidate to practice in an English-speaking country. The four sub-tests are – Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening.
Q9. How is the OET score calculated?
Ans. There is no overall score for OET. Each sub-test is scored on a scale of 0-500. The score will then be converted into a grade for each subtest. The grades from A-E, A being the highest and E being the lowest.
Q10. What is the test time of OET?
Ans. The Occupational English Test is conducted for a time span of 2 hours and 45 minutes, each sub-test is divided into – Reading (60 minute), Writing (45 minute), Listening (40 minute) and Speaking (20 minute).
Q11. Is OET a generic English test?
Ans. No, OET is not a generic English test. OET tests the English communication skills of healthcare professionals who wish to work in majority English countries. It focuses only on healthcare professionals and their ability to communicate effectively in workplace settings.
