OET Writing Use of correct prepositions

When you write, it is important that you write grammatically correct.

A small error can lead to big trouble.

What is correct?

1. The doctor was absorbed at his work or

2. The doctor was absorbed in his work.

Obviously, the second sentence is correct. Most of the student's write thinking first in their own mother tongue and then they try to translate their troughs into English.

It is wrong to say: Can you help me in taking the patient for the lab test?

The correct way of saying this is as follows:

Can you help me with taking the patient for the lab test?

You may wonder how a small word such as “in” or “with” will change the sentence.

But, that is grammar. You will have to follow the rules.

Your OET examiner will look at such common mistakes too. If you make such mistakes then obviously you will get a low score in your writing test.

We do not say:

The patient accused the doctor for failure in operation.

But, we say:

The patient accused the doctor of failure in operation.
